Shrubbery!! - 10/14/10

Shrubbery!! - 10/14/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 284 of Project 365. Another late afternoon on a park bench, enjoying the scenery. You've gotta stop and smell the roses as they say, right? Right.

Crown Foutain at night - 10/13/10

Crown Foutain at night - 10/13/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 283 of Project 365. People in Chicago most likely have seen this before, but seeing people's faces when they are from out of town when they first see this is pretty amazing. The Crown Fountain changes colors at night.

Pretty cool stuff.

Golden Leaves - 10/12/10

Golden Leaves - 10/12/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 282 of Project 365. The picture didn't quite capture the beauty of the leaves the way I saw it, but I still liked the picture. This is in our backyard.

LSD - 10/11/10

LSD - 10/11/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 281 of Project 365. A Monday afternoon...or was it Tuesday? Hmmm, not really sure it matters. Anyway, I was going south on Lake Shore Drive. You can see Navy Pier off in the distance.

Fall - 10/10/10

Fall - 10/10/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 280 of Project 365. It was such a beautiful day outside. I was actually thinking of taking a picture and then I saw the trees across the street. Enjoy!

Megan's Award! - 10/09/10

Megan's Award! - 10/09/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 279 of Project 365. Megan won a community award for volunteering with the Park District. It was pretty cool and there were about 20 other kids that received awards too. We had dinner at the Park District and Megan's mom met us up there.

We were both very proud of Megan!

Millennium Park as the sun goes down - 10/08/10

Millennium Park as the sun goes down - 10/08/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 278 of Project 365. I had gone downtown for my former companies going away party for those of us that were laid off in September. I actually got downtown earlier than I had hoped, so I went to Millennium Park to sit and relax. I took this about 20 minutes before I had to leave for the party.

Quite a view - 10/07/10

Quite a view - 10/07/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 277 of Project 365. A funny thing happens when you are suddenly laid off - you seem to forget things like when you went places and what not. I can't remember the actual date, but I met my friend Teresa Peek at the Sears Tower for a meeting with an Accountant. I believe it might have been on 10/06 but I'm way to lazy to look it up. You'll have to trust me on this one.

This was taken on the 66th floor. A good day!

Last train to Clarksville - 10/06/10

Last train to Clarksville - 10/06/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 276 of Project 365. This was taken the week prior to 10/06 at the LaSalle Street station on the evening of my last train ride home. I miss my train friends.

Clouds - 10/05/10

Clouds - 10/05/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 275 of Project 365. A normal day and I had to run out for groceries. Nothing too exciting, but seeing clouds like these sure brought a smile to my face.

Vibram Bikila part 2 - 10/04/10

Vibram Bikila part 2 - 10/04/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 274 of Project 365. I know people have started to hear of the Vibram's but I don't think realize just how minimalist they really are. There's a tiny bit of rubber on the bottom and that's it. As you can see there is no cushioning on the you are forced to land on the forefoot. In fact, there's really no cushioning at all.

Vibram Bikila - 10/03/10

Vibram Bikila - 10/03/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 273 of Project 365. I've been doing a lot of experimenting with my running style over the past year and doing a lot of research into the barefoot running craze that seems to be getting more and more popular. Obviously, living in Chicago, barefoot running could be quite foolish due to the chances of running on broken glass, needles and other painful objects. Enter the Vibram company. Vibram has been putting out a line "shoes" that's made to replicate the barefoot experience without the risk of actually being barefoot. Vibram had a few models that could be used for running, but running was not their sole purpose.

I've been dying to try a pair of Vibram's for myself, but finding them can be quite challenging. I put it off for a while and when I finally decided to get serious about trying them, I saw Vibram came out with a new model made especially for running. The Vibram Bikila.
Looks like my procrast…

Gina's Prom - 10/02/10

Gina's Prom - 10/02/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 272 of Project 365. I went to the UPChicago Bolf-A-Palooza benefit for Imerman Angels last night and I swore I would take pictures. I was actually wearing a suit, if you can believe that. However, I failed. I failed miserably in the picture taking department.

The Rubin Archives to the rescue!!

So, here is a picture of me and my sister from her senior prom. At least one of us was dressed up...

Cloud Gate closeup - 10/01/10

Cloud Gate closeup - 10/01/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 271 of Project 365. I went downtown to help Jen from with a video shoot she wanted to do and being newly unemployed, I had plenty of time to kill after we were done. I called my former co-worker, Karen, and we met up for coffee. After that, I walked over to Millennium Park to try a shot of the Cloud Gate with the zoom set to maximum.

Hanging with Jen is awesome. Hanging with Karen is awesome. The zoom on my EVO 4G is...not so awesome. I expected that though since it is a camera phone.

Got gum? 9/30/10

Got gum? 9/30/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 270 of Project 365. It was my final day at my place of employment and I had tons of time to kill after my work day ended at noon. I hung out with friends at the Cedar Hotel, but of course I forgot to take pictures. On the way home, I stopped at the Wrigley Building and snapped a picture.

One very cool thing about Chicago at night in the downtown area is the fact that so many buildings have exterior lighting. Most of which is very cool.

Washington & Michigan - 9/29/10

Washington & Michigan - 9/29/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 269 of Project 365. The view westward down Washington Street from Millennium Park.

Jay Pritzker Pavilion - 9/28/10

Jay Pritzker Pavilion - 9/28/10, originally uploaded by TomRubin. Day 268 of Project 365. It was a nice day at Millennium Park. In fact it was so nice I decided to walk around a bit after eating. This is the world famous Jay Pritzker Pavilion. You can read about it here.
